Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to achieving stability and peace in the region through a sustainable and just resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Al Hashimy emphasized the necessity of a political approach that supports the two-state solution, advocating for the establishment of an independent Palestinian State that can coexist peacefully with Israel, adhering to bilateral agreements and international law.
Highlighting the critical need to improve humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, she noted the UAE’s ongoing commitment to providing urgent humanitarian assistance. In the past ten months, the UAE has delivered 39,756 tonnes of supplies to Gaza via 8 ships, 1,271 trucks, and 337 flights.
The minister stressed that the UAE remains committed to working with the UN and international partners to alleviate humanitarian suffering. She also mentioned that returning to the pre-October 7, 2023, status quo would not suffice for sustainable peace. The UAE advocates for an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages and detainees, and the deployment of a temporary international mission in Gaza, invited by the Palestinian government, to address the humanitarian crisis and establish governance.
Al Hashimy underscored that Israel, as the occupying power, must adhere to international law and human rights principles. She called for an end to the blockade of Gaza, the cessation of settlement construction, and violence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Finally, she highlighted the importance of collective regional and international efforts, including the significant role of the United States, to rebuild Gaza and promote peace, ensuring a peaceful and prosperous future for all nations in the region.
