Malaysian influencer Jasmine Yong shared the heartbreaking news that her two-year-old son, Enzo, drowned in a hotel pool while she and her husband, fellow influencer Lim Kong Wang, were napping in the room next door.
In an Instagram post, Yong explained that the family stayed at the hotel on May 11 to celebrate Mother’s Day. “As always, he snuggled up next to us and drank milk before falling asleep,” Yong wrote in the caption.
The tragedy unfolded when the couple woke up to find Enzo missing. “When I woke up, I found that he was not next to me,” Yong recounted, adding that she noticed the “originally locked door of the indoor swimming pool had been opened.”
The couple found Enzo unresponsive in the pool and tried to perform CPR. However, the hotel’s poor network prevented them from calling for help. “We hurriedly ran to the hotel lobby with the baby in our arms and asked the hotel staff to help call an ambulance and provide first aid until the ambulance arrived,” she said.
Enzo was brought to the hospital where he initially recovered his heartbeat but remained in a coma. Sadly, on May 17, Enzo’s heartbeat stopped due to insufficient oxygen supply.
In her post, Yong emphasized that nobody wanted the accident to happen and requested media outlets to “refrain from exaggerating, taking quotes out of context, and making things up out of nothing.”
Yong has been sharing posts paying tribute to her son, including IG Reels of him taken at home and during family outings. With over 472,000 followers, Yong focuses on lifestyle, travel, and fashion content, while Wang’s content revolves around food and lifestyle. They often featured Enzo in their posts.
