The Bureau of Immigration (BI) apprehended two South Korean fugitives in separate operations on September 20, 2024, following red notices from Interpol and warrants issued by South Korean courts.
Nam Sundong, 37, was arrested at a residence in Las Piñas City. He is wanted in South Korea for operating illegal gambling establishments. His arrest warrant was issued by a district court in Ulsan in 2023, leading to an Interpol Red Notice.
In a separate operation, 23-year-old Lee Hyunhak was arrested along Jose Abad Santos Avenue in Clark, Pampanga. Lee is accused of smuggling methamphetamine into South Korea. His arrest warrant was issued by the Busan District Court, with an Interpol Red Notice released earlier this month.
Both individuals are in BI custody in Bicutan, awaiting deportation. Their passports have been revoked by the South Korean government.
