Two Pakistani workers sentenced to prison and deportation for assaulting roommate in Dubai

Two Pakistani workers have been sentenced by the Dubai Court to three months in prison, followed by deportation, for assaulting a fellow worker in their shared accommodation.

According to a Khaleej Times report, the assault took place at around 1am on February 3, 2024, in a labour accommodation room where all three resided. The court documents revealed that the defendants conspired to carry out the attack, with the first accused using a knife to threaten the victim while the second accused executed the assault.

The attack was halted by another resident who was awakened by the victim’s cries for help, leading to the immediate arrest of the two assailants.

Prosecutors provided strong evidence, including eyewitness accounts and forensic analysis, linking the second accused to the crime. Despite the defendants denying the charges during their court appearance on April 22, the court deemed the evidence and testimonies reliable.

Highlighting the severity of the premeditated assault and the use of a weapon, the court sentenced both defendants to three months in prison, starting from May 13, 2024, and mandated their deportation upon completion of their sentences.
