Salik Company PJSC has announced that two new Salik toll gates will be operational by the end of November, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion and improve traffic flow on key roads in Dubai. The new gates, located at Business Bay Crossing on Al Khail Road and Al Safa South on Sheikh Zayed Road, will increase the total number of Salik gates in the city from eight to ten.
Ibrahim Al Haddad, CEO of Salik, said in a Khaleej Times that the introduction of these gates is based on a study conducted by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), which anticipates a significant reduction in traffic congestion. The Business Bay Crossing gate is expected to reduce traffic on Al Khail Road by 12 to 15 percent and on Al Rabat Street by 10 to 16 percent. Meanwhile, the Al Safa South gate will improve traffic distribution between Financial Center Street and Meydan Street, reducing right-turn traffic from Sheikh Zayed Road to Meydan Street by 15 percent.
Al Haddad emphasized that the new gates will operate similarly to existing ones, with a single charge applied if vehicles pass through both the northern and southern Safa gates within an hour. He also highlighted that the gates will be nearly 100 percent solar-powered, aligning with Dubai’s sustainability goals.
The RTA and Salik plan to issue a public announcement before the gates become operational. While there are no current plans to introduce additional toll gates or change the fees, future adjustments will depend on traffic studies and require approval from Dubai’s Executive Council.
