Two men were apprehended after allegedly stealing a motorcycle, which they later sold online and test drove with the actual owners and their sibling in Quezon City.
According to a report by James Agustin on Unang Balita last Friday, a follow-up operation was conducted by the Batasan Police Station in Barangay North Fairview, targeting the suspects.
One of the suspects, an 18-year-old, attempted to flee upon arrest but was quickly apprehended. His 23-year-old accomplice resisted while being handcuffed and was forced to the ground.
“He (owner) parked his motorbike in front of his house along the road here in Barangay Commonwealth. And then the next morning, around 10 a.m. when he was about to go to work, his motorcycle was gone. So immediately, he reported it to the barangay and then here at the police station,” said Batasan Police Station Commander Police Lieutenant Colonel Jerry Castillo.
The owner was shocked to discover that his sibling found their motorcycle being sold online.
“They saw features like scratches that only they knew about. They saw their motorcycle being sold online immediately. So the victim’s sibling engaged in a transaction with the suspects,” Castillo explained.
The siblings and suspects agreed on a price of P40,000, leading to a meeting.
“The suspects even let the victim and his sibling test drive the motorcycle. They started it. Then when they opened the compartment, the OR/CR was there, registered under the victim’s name,” Castillo added.
Police also discovered that one of the suspects used a fake name online.
The suspects, when asked for comment, opted to remain silent.
The Quezon City Police District continues its investigation to determine if there are other victims of the suspects.
