Two individuals lost their lives in a severe car accident that occurred near Etihad Mall in Al Khawaneej, Dubai. The accident, involving an over speeding sports car, happened on Tuesday night, as confirmed by the Dubai Police on Wednesday.
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, the director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, provided details of the accident which took place at 11.55 pm on Tuesday. While the nationalities of the victims were not disclosed, it was reported that the deceased were a man and a woman.
According to Al Mazrouei, the tragedy unfolded when the driver, who was speeding, lost control of the vehicle. “As the car approached the bridge’s curve, it skidded and collided with the curb and the concrete barrier, then fell off the bridge onto the street below,” he explained.
The impact of the crash was exacerbated by the high speed of the car, causing it to continue in the opposite direction on the lower street before coming to a halt on the median strip. Unfortunately, it caught fire, leading to the fatalities of both the driver and his female companion.
Following the accident, Dubai Police and rescue teams were swiftly dispatched to the site. Traffic patrols were deployed to manage the flow of vehicles, secure the accident area, and ensure smooth access for ambulances and rescue vehicles.
