Two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) caught in a dormitory fire in Kuwait are making progress in their recovery, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) reported on Friday. DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac announced that one of the injured workers has been discharged from the hospital and is now recuperating in company-provided accommodation. The other worker remains in intensive care but is showing signs of improvement.
Cacdac expressed optimism about the recovering worker, stating, “We hope and pray he is on the road to full recovery.” The fire, which was attributed to a short circuit according to initial investigations, resulted in the deaths of three other Filipino workers from smoke inhalation. All victims were employed by the same Kuwaiti construction company.
In addition to the casualties and injured workers, six other Filipino colleagues who survived the incident are still in Kuwait.
