Two foreign nationals have died in separate incidents of suspected suicide, according to local media reports, as Kuwait continues its tough stance against expatriates who attempt to take their own lives.
The first case involved a 40-year-old Asian man whose body was discovered in a remote desert area in southern Kuwait. A fellow expat alerted authorities after finding him hanging inside a room. Emergency responders confirmed the man had already died upon arrival.
In another part of the country, an Arab expatriate was found hanging inside a building in the Farwaniyah governorate. His remains have been sent for forensic examination as investigations continue into the motives behind both incidents.
The tragic deaths come in the wake of another recent case that sparked controversy — the Kuwaiti Interior Ministry has ordered the deportation of an Indian man who survived a suicide attempt by jumping off the iconic Jaber Bridge. He admitted to being overwhelmed by severe personal struggles. Authorities have banned him from reentering the country for life.
Under Kuwait’s policy, expatriates who attempt suicide can face deportation, further highlighting the challenges faced by many migrant workers in the Gulf state.
