The Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced the arrest of two Chinese nationals wanted for serious crimes in their home country. The arrests were made by the BI Fugitive Search Unit (BI-FSU) on June 19 in separate operations in Parañaque and Pasay.
The arrested individuals are Zhu Tingyun, 43, apprehended at his residence in Barangay Tambo, Parañaque, and Wang Yun, 30, caught along Metrobank Avenue, Pasay.
“We will deport them to China so they can stand trial for their alleged crimes, and they will remain on our blacklist to prevent them from re-entering the Philippines,” stated Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco.
The Chinese government had revoked the passports of both fugitives, who had been hiding in the Philippines for years to evade prosecution. Zhu Tingyun is wanted by the Public Security Bureau in Cangwu County, Guangxi, China, for running an online gambling syndicate that amassed bets worth approximately US$4.1 billion since 2016.
Zhu’s deportation was ordered last year by the BI for being an undesirable alien. Wang Yun is wanted by the Public Security Bureau in Jinjiang City for alleged involvement in kidnapping.
Both detainees are currently held at the BI Warden Facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, while awaiting deportation.
