Tulfo pushes new pension system to support retiring OFWs

ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo is set to propose a bill establishing a dedicated pension system for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), aiming to provide them financial support after retiring from work abroad.

In a GMA News Online report, Tulfo shared that the proposed system would require contributions from both OFWs and the national government, with the latter possibly pitching in double or even triple the amount. He stressed that this fund would operate independently from existing programs like the Social Security System (SSS), and would be tailored specifically to the needs of migrant workers.

Meanwhile, fellow senatorial aspirant Camille Villar brought her campaign to Muntinlupa over the weekend, earning the backing of Mayor Ruffy Biazon. Villar laid out her plans to focus on job creation, education, housing, and women’s health if elected to the Senate.

Both Tulfo and Villar are running under the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas slate, which has the endorsement of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. However, Villar and Sen. Imee Marcos were notably absent during the alliance’s Cavite sortie on Friday. Villar instead joined a motorcade with Caloocan Rep. Oscar Malapitan.
