A claim of an imminent arrest involving a sitting senator surfaced after veteran columnist Ramon Tulfo said he received information suggesting police were preparing to move against Bato dela Rosa.
Tulfo wrote that a source he referred to as his “tweety bird” told him authorities were poised to carry out an arrest on the same day the claim was aired, alleging the existence of a warrant issued by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity. He did not present documentary proof, nor did he identify the officials allegedly involved in the supposed operation.
In the same account, Tulfo advanced broader allegations about the conduct of the anti-drug campaign during the previous administration, asserting that killings disproportionately affected rival syndicates. He further claimed that individuals allegedly connected to then president Rodrigo Duterte were spared, specifically naming businessman Michael Yang and former lawmaker Arnie Teves.
The statements were framed by Tulfo as allegations rather than confirmed developments. No official confirmation of an arrest order or an ICC warrant has been released by Philippine law-enforcement agencies or the court itself as of this writing.
