UAE airports are experiencing unprecedented passenger traffic, leading to a surge in travelers arriving or departing the country. Authorities are reminding travelers to adhere to customs regulations under the GCC unified customs law to avoid complications.
Those carrying more than Dh60,000 in cash or equivalent in other currencies, financial instruments, precious metals, or valuable stones must declare the amount to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Ports Security (ICP). Declarations can be made via the official website or the Afseh app.
Travelers should also be aware of the restrictions on prohibited items, including narcotics, gambling tools, and counterfeit currency. Additionally, gifts brought into the UAE should not exceed Dh3,000 in value, and there are specific limits on tobacco and alcohol.
Violating customs regulations can result in fines, imprisonment, or both, and the court may order the confiscation of undeclared funds. To ensure a smooth travel experience, passengers are urged to comply with all customs procedures.
