Tourists visiting the UAE can now enjoy a free eSIM with 10GB of data upon arrival, thanks to a new service introduced by telecom provider e&. The eSIM, which can be self-activated using facial recognition technology by scanning a QR code, is designed for instant use as soon as visitors clear immigration.
According to a Khaleej Times report, the ‘Free Visitor Line eSIM’ eliminates the need to wait in line and provides seamless connectivity, allowing tourists to stay connected and access essential services. The eSIM is valid for a day, offering visitors a hassle-free way to communicate with family and friends.
Dubai saw over 17.15 million international visitors last year, while Abu Dhabi welcomed 3.8 million overnight visitors in 2023. Khaled ElKhouly, e&’s chief consumer officer, said this initiative sets a new benchmark for mobile connectivity, enhancing the UAE’s appeal as a top tourist destination.
