An American social media personality has gone viral after claiming that a disturbing incident involving her ex-boyfriend’s flatulence led to a long-term sinus infection that continues to affect her health nearly a decade later.
Christine Connell, who shared her unusual medical ordeal through a TikTok video, revealed that she has been suffering from a severe sinus infection since 2015, which she attributes to inhaling a fart from her then-boyfriend during a hotel stay.
“That is when the fart happened. I’ve never, ever, ever smelled anything that compares to that,” Christine recounted, adding that she was recovering from ankle surgery at the time and was unable to move away.
She explained that her ex was undressed and facing her when the incident occurred, which allegedly exposed her directly to the foul odor. Days later, Christine said she began experiencing symptoms such as nasal congestion, a runny nose, fever, and intense headaches.
Medical specialists later diagnosed her with a sinus infection caused by E. coli, a bacterium typically found in the gut. Doctors suspect the bacteria may have invaded her sinuses due to her weakened immune system following surgery.
Despite receiving medication, Christine said the infection keeps recurring. She has now been advised to undergo surgery to remove the infected sinus tissue.
“They’re going to use general anesthesia to go up there and physically scrape off where the bacteria has been and really wash it and get all of the infected tissue out of there,” she said.
Christine also left viewers with an odd yet stern warning: “Avoid being farted on in the face by anyone.” She jokingly added, “I realised that my ex-boyfriend got the best possible break-up revenge that anyone could ever get.”
