The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a red alert for motorists in the UAE due to poor visibility from fog on Monday morning, Khaleej Times reported. Visibility could drop significantly, particularly until 8:30 AM. This warning follows similar advisories over the weekend as foggy conditions persisted.
Abu Dhabi Police have advised drivers to be cautious and adhere to speed limits displayed on electronic boards. Weather predictions for Monday include a fair to partly cloudy day with a chance of low clouds along the east coast in the morning. The eastern regions may also see rainfall by afternoon due to convective clouds.
Thunderstorms are expected in the northern areas later in the day, with Windy.com confirming the forecast. Sunday witnessed heavy rains with hail in Khatm Al Shiklah, Al Ain, and moderate to heavy showers on the new Khor Fakkan road towards Al Dhaid. Light rains were also reported in Maleha, Sharjah.
Despite potential rain, high temperatures will prevail, reaching up to 49ºC in inland areas and 48ºC in Abu Dhabi and 47ºC in Dubai. Friday recorded the season’s highest temperature at 49.9 °C in Mezaira. The meteorological office also predicts light to moderate winds and calm seas in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea today.
