The University of the Philippines has retained its position as the country’s leading academic institution in EduRank’s latest rankings, which evaluated 229 universities nationwide.
De La Salle University and Ateneo de Manila University followed in second and third place, respectively, with the University of Santo Tomas completing the top four.
UP’s dominance extended beyond its main campus. UP Los Baños entered at fifth place and UP Manila at sixth — giving the state university system three spots in the top ten.
Mapua University placed seventh, with the University of San Carlos, Asian Institute of Management, and Silliman University rounding out the top ten at eighth, ninth, and tenth.
EduRank’s methodology weighted research performance and non-academic prominence equally at 45 percent each, with alumni influence accounting for the remaining 10 percent. The ranking drew from an analysis of 944,000 citations across 84,700 academic publications and tracked the prominence of 1,341 recognized alumni.
On the broader regional stage, Philippine universities ranked well outside Asia’s top tier. UP Diliman placed 312th across Asia, with DLSU at 400th and Ateneo at 457th. The University of Tokyo led the Asian rankings, ahead of Kyoto University, Tsinghua University, Peking University, and the National University of Singapore.
