Three Emiratis lost their lives, and another was gravely injured in a road accident that occurred on Saturday evening on Emirates Road, Sharjah. The Sharjah Police, who disclosed the details on Sunday, have attributed the tragedy to speeding.
The incident was first reported to the Sharjah Police Central Operations Room at 7.17 pm on Saturday. It involved a four-wheel-drive SUV that was traveling from Al Zubair Tunnel towards Bridge No.7 on Emirates Road.
Upon receiving the report, specialised police teams alongside the National Ambulance service were promptly dispatched to the accident site. Investigations revealed that the SUV collided with a concrete barrier dividing the road and then struck a light pole. This catastrophic sequence of events led to the death of three individuals and serious injuries to a fourth person, who was immediately taken to the hospital for urgent treatment.
Further investigations by the police concluded that the primary causes of the accident were excessive speed and sudden swerving of the vehicle.
In response to this tragic incident, the Sharjah Police General Command has issued a plea to all drivers. They urge adherence to traffic rules, reduction of speed, and heightened attention while driving to ensure road safety. Additionally, the command has emphasized the importance of exercising caution at all times behind the wheel.
The Sharjah Police General Command also extended their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased. Simultaneously, they expressed their hopes for a swift and full recovery for the individual who was injured in this unfortunate event.
