Three drivers in UAE hit with AED50,000 fines for reckless driving and community service sentence

The Al Ain Traffic Misdemeanour Court has convicted three individuals of reckless driving, imposing a hefty fine of Dh50,000 each. The court’s decision, which also includes a three-month suspension of their driving licenses and the confiscation of their vehicles, underscores the serious consequences of such dangerous behavior on public roads.

The convicts have been further assigned to community service, a photo released by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department shows them cleaning skid marks on the road. This punitive measure is part of the court’s effort to emphasize the gravity of their actions.

These individuals were found guilty of multiple offenses, including endangering the lives of other road users, showboating in a hazardous manner, causing damage to public property, and violating traffic laws by driving loudly and without number plates.

The case gained attention after videos showcasing their reckless driving circulated on social media, prompting authorities to take action. The Public Prosecution, upon reviewing the footage, referred the matter to the court where substantial evidence led to the filing of charges.
