A late-night collision along the Bypass Road in Barangay Zambal turned deadly Tuesday as three people were killed and five others were injured in a crash between a van and a car.
According to an ABS-CB News report citing the Tagaytay police chief PLtCol. Jefferson Ison, all fatalities were inside the Toyota Corolla, including the driver, a pregnant woman identified as Jenalyn, and an unidentified male passenger. The group was reportedly on the way to a hospital for the woman’s prenatal check-up.
“The car owner only offered a ride out of kindness because the woman was pregnant and needed a check-up,” Ison explained.
The van, which carried five teenagers aged 17 and 18, was allegedly swerving before the crash. All passengers had reportedly consumed alcohol.
“They had been drinking, then decided to go on a road trip after just graduating from high school,” Ison said, adding that the van was seen recklessly moving along the road. “Swerving, and showing off,” he added.
All five teens are recovering in the hospital. The van driver is expected to face multiple charges, including homicide, damage to property, and physical injuries.
