Three Chinese nationals were arrested for allegedly stealing a handbag on a Philippine Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur to Manila, according to the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
The suspects, identified as Lyu Shuiming, 48; Xu Xianpu, 41; and Xie Xiaoyong, 54, were apprehended at Ninoy Aquino International Airport on September 15. A flight attendant reportedly caught Lyu and his companions stealing from an overhead bin, taking cash and valuables worth P63,000 from a female judge’s handbag.
The Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group detained Lyu, while Xu and Xie managed to board a flight to Hong Kong. The BI has recommended placing the suspects on its blacklist.
BI Officer-in-Charge Joel Anthony Viado assured the public that the bureau will not tolerate such crimes, promising to monitor the case and blacklist any accomplices.
