Three young children and their family’s domestic worker died in a road accident in the UAE early Sunday, according to people assisting the family, while the children’s parents and two siblings were left seriously injured.
Information shared with Gulf News identified the victims as siblings Ashaz, 14, Ammaar, 12, and Ayyash, 5, along with their household helper, Bushra. The family, originally from Kerala, is based in Dubai.
A relative said the accident occurred in the early hours while the family was travelling back to Dubai after visiting the Liwa Festival. Details of the crash itself were not immediately disclosed.
The children’s parents, Abdul Latheef and Ruksana, survived the incident along with two of their children, Ezzaa, 10, and Azzam, 7. They were taken for treatment to a hospital in Abu Dhabi, where one of the injured children remains in critical condition, according to relatives.
Relatives and friends gathered at the hospital shortly after the injured were admitted, as the family began coordinating next steps following the deaths.
“The accident took place early this morning. Several relatives and friends of the family reached the hospital after that. The family has decided to lay the children to rest in the UAE itself. We are supporting them with the procedures for the funeral and to repatriate the mortal remains of the maid,” the social worker told Gulf News.
