Thousands of OFWs in Japan to benefit from one-day gov’t service caravan in Osaka

Thousands of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Japan are expected to gain access to vital government services during the Bagong Bayani ng Mundo Serbisyo Caravan happening in Osaka on July 20, 2025.

Spearheaded by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), the caravan brings together 14 national government agencies to provide a one-stop-shop of services aimed at supporting OFWs and their families. The initiative aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to make government services more accessible to Filipinos working abroad.

The event will be led by DMW Assistant Secretary Violeta D. Illescas, in coordination with the DMW’s Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Osaka. Consul General Voltaire D. Mauricio will also attend, alongside representatives from various government agencies.

Among the services offered are contract verification, OWWA membership renewal and e-Card applications, legal and psychosocial support, civil registration, national ID processing, and assistance from SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, Landbank, and OFBank. Financial literacy support and information sessions on government benefits will also be available onsite.

The initiative aims to make these services more efficient by eliminating the need for OFWs to travel back to the Philippines. It is part of a larger rollout, with similar caravans scheduled to reach major OFW hubs in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe throughout the year.
