Thousands of Filipinos were seen queuing for the Emirates cabin crew recruitment event held at IPAMS in the Philippines on April 8, 2024. The crowd, eager for the opportunity to join the ranks of Emirates’ esteemed cabin crew, extended beyond the vicinity of Robinsons Magnolia, highlighting the event’s popularity.
Mond Ortiz, an aviation enthusiast, reported that applicants had started lining up as early as 1 am, indicating the high level of interest in Emirates as an employer. The turnout surpassed that of the Qatar Airways recruitment event in 2022, showcasing Emirates as the top choice for Filipino cabin crew aspirants, closely followed by Philippine Airlines.
The recruitment process for Emirates is known for its rigorous selection criteria, focusing on a few select candidates to maintain the airline’s high standards of service and safety. Emirates is reputed for its exceptional care for cabin crew members, including competitive compensation, which adds to its allure as a top employer.
The recruitment event marked the pre-screening phase, with successful candidates moving on to further interviews directly with Emirates. Despite some concerns raised by applicants regarding the height requirement set at 160cm, Ortiz reminded hopefuls that this criterion was made clear beforehand by IPAMS. He emphasized the importance of meeting the airline’s standards rather than criticizing them, pointing out that the requirements are in place for operational reasons, especially considering Emirates operates nearly 100 Airbus A380s, the largest commercial aircraft in the world.
