This road in UAE is playing Beethoven’s symphony as you drive

A road in Fujairah is making music—literally. A newly launched stretch along Sheikh Khalifa Street has become the country’s first-ever “musical road,” transforming an ordinary drive into a moving symphony.

The 750-meter stretch, located just before the Fujairah Court entrance, features strategically carved grooves that play a recognizable piece of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony when cars pass over it at the right speed. The vibrations from the tires hitting the grooves produce the iconic tune, giving drivers a surreal audio experience without any speakers.

What started as a local initiative has quickly become a national sensation, with the hashtag #FujairahMusicalRoad gaining traction online. Motorists shared videos and reactions ranging from disbelief to awe.

“OMG, I literally thought my car was possessed at first, then I realized it was playing Beethoven!” one user posted on X (formerly Twitter). Another wrote, “Who needs a playlist when your road sings to you?”

More than just a clever roadside novelty, the project reflects Fujairah’s growing reputation for marrying culture with innovation. The Fujairah Fine Arts Academy, credited in many posts, is being praised for bringing this “art in motion” to life.

So if you’re planning your next road trip, Fujairah might just be the perfect place to let your tires do the singing.
