On August 23, 2024, thirty-nine overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and a child arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s Terminal 3, having opted for the repatriation program offered by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Department of Foreign Affairs, and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
Upon arrival, each repatriated worker received PHP 75,000 in financial assistance from the DMW’s action fund. Among the group, thirty-eight were employed as caregivers, while one was a hotel worker.
Since the onset of the Israel-Hamas conflict in October 2023, the Philippine government has facilitated the return of 1,147 OFWs. This includes 850 from Israel, 289 from Lebanon, six from the West Bank, and two from Gaza.
The Philippine government has maintained Alert Level 2 for Israel since April 2024, advising Filipinos to avoid non-essential travel due to ongoing security risks. This alert level is issued when the situation in a host country poses significant threats to the safety of Filipino nationals.
