A total of 30 individuals, including 21 foreign women, were arrested in Muscat for allegedly engaging in prostitution, Oman’s Royal Police confirmed on Sunday.
The arrests took place during a targeted operation at a hotel in the Wilayat of Muttrah, carried out by the Muscat Police Command. Authorities said legal procedures are already in motion.
This incident comes on the heels of a wider crackdown. Just weeks ago, over 60 women from countries such as Egypt, Iran, Pakistan, Thailand, and Morocco were apprehended across Oman in related operations. Officials say many of these cases are linked to organized groups, often run by expatriates.
Oman has intensified efforts to curb illegal activities tied to prostitution, reinforcing existing laws under Article 25 of the Omani Penal Code, which penalizes public indecency with fines and potential jail time.
