The Voice USA winner Sofronio Vasquez gets offer to perform in ‘Miss Saigon’

Filipino singer and recent winner of The Voice USA Season 26, Sofronio Vasquez, has revealed that he received an unexpected offer to perform in the renowned stage musical Miss Saigon at London’s West End.

Vasquez, 30, shared the surprising news during his exclusive contract signing event with Star Magic at the ABS-CBN headquarters in Quezon City on February 25. Unlike most performers who undergo rigorous auditions, Vasquez was directly approached for the role without auditioning.

Expressing gratitude for the unique opportunity, Vasquez said that if the plans push through, he would spend four weeks in London for performances. Despite his busy schedule in 2024, he feels blessed and hopeful about entering the world of musical theatre.

Vasquez, the first Filipino and Asian to clinch victory on The Voice USA, admitted seeking advice from Filipino singer Mark Bautista, who previously performed in Miss Saigon. Sofronio said he’s preparing carefully, emphasizing the importance of vocal exercises and hydration before performances.

Currently managed by ABS-CBN in the Philippines and NBC in the US, Vasquez has a packed schedule, including opening and closing the Manila International Film Festival on March 4, shows across California in March, a Dubai concert in May, and performances in New York in July.
