The Knights of Rizal Qatar Chapter empowers OFWs through service and unity

The Knights of Rizal (KOR) is not just an organization—it’s a living testament to the enduring ideals of patriotism, unity, and service inspired by the life and works of Dr. Jose Rizal. Since its establishment in 1911, the KOR has grown to become a civic and patriotic institution recognized under Republic Act No. 646, making it the only order of knighthood chartered by the Philippine Congress. Over a century later, its chapters worldwide, including the vibrant Qatar Chapter, continue to spread Rizal’s vision of nation-building and selfless service.

The KOR was founded by Colonel Antonio Torres in 1911 to honor the memory and teachings of Dr. Jose Rizal. The organization’s initial mission was to spread awareness of Rizal’s heroism, foster a sense of nationalism, and inspire Filipinos to emulate his ideals. Over time, it has evolved into an international organization dedicated to civic, cultural, and educational programs, making a lasting impact on Filipino communities worldwide.

Notable members of the Knights of Rizal

The Knights of Rizal has counted among its ranks many prominent figures, including:

• Emilio Aguinaldo, the first president of the Philippines, who upheld Rizal’s ideals in his pursuit of independence.

• Carlos P. Romulo, a celebrated diplomat, journalist, and the first Asian president of the United Nations General Assembly.

• President Ferdinand Marcos, whose membership symbolized his admiration for Rizal’s vision of patriotism and reform.

• Senator Jose W. Diokno, known as the “Father of Human Rights” in the Philippines, who embodied Rizal’s ideals of justice and equality.

These notable members and countless others have carried forward Rizal’s torch, inspiring generations of Filipinos to strive for excellence and serve their communities.
