The Hearsays rekindle old bandmate magic with new music and upcoming album

Rocky Turen and Rhyms Agot of The MaineStream released their debut experimental album, “Side Effects of Youth’s Mental Breakdown,” in 2023. This album featured 10 emotionally charged songs that they self-produced. This year, they brought in drummer Mike Manubay, an old bandmate of Turen, and returned to Amadeus Music Co. to create new music.

Their first single, “Sunflower Bloom,” was released on May 2, 2024, and quickly captivated listeners. Rocky Turen explained with The Global Filipino Magazine that the song was inspired by the musical styles of The 1975 and Harry Styles, using a mix of synths and voice changers. Their second single, “Laya,” features an old-style pop rock sound with blues elements, reflecting Turen’s experiences working on a cruise ship.

Manubay expressed his happiness about rejoining the band, highlighting their shared dreams and the process of reworking old and unreleased songs with new arrangements. Agot remains a key collaborator, with Turen praising his passion and talent.

The Hearsays are set to release two more singles, “T.Y.M” (Titig, Yakap, Matunaw), a poignant love song, and “Paalam, Sa Tabi Ko,” a melancholic track about long-distance relationships and the experiences of overseas Filipino workers.

The band plans to release their first full album and hopes to organize a launch concert and major gigs by the end of the year. They encourage fans to follow their music platforms and social media for updates. Turen expressed gratitude to their supporters, including Amadeus Music Co. and The Global Filipino Magazine.

The Hearsays are excited to continue sharing their music and connecting with their audience.
