The Green Planet, the only indoor tropical rainforest in Dubai, is launching the Middle East’s first-ever exhibit dedicated to carnivorous plants starting today, August 31, 2023.
The exhibit features an array of bug-eating botanical wonders, including the Pitcher Plant, Venus Flytrap, and Sundew Plant. Rarely seen in the Middle East, these exotic species offer visitors an educational and interactive experience like no other.
To celebrate the launch, special workshops will be conducted from August 31 to September 3 at 3 PM. Guests will have the unique opportunity to witness these plants in action during live feeding demonstrations led by biologists.
The Pitcher Plants, known for their tube-like leaves and heights of up to three feet, specialize in trapping insects with their deceptive coloring and scents. The Venus Flytrap, perhaps the most iconic of carnivorous plants, uses rapid hunting tactics and highly sensitive ‘traps’ to capture and consume insects. Sundew Plants, which boast a unique hunting approach and an appearance as beautiful as it is deadly, add further intrigue to the exhibit.
The Green Planet invites residents and tourists alike to immerse themselves in this thrilling world of carnivorous plants. Admission to the Carnivorous Plants exhibit is included with the standard admission ticket to The Green Planet’s indoor rainforest.
