Tomorrow, the Dusit Thani Dubai will host the prestigious Global Filipino Icon Awards 2024, an event that celebrates the achievements and contributions of Filipinos in the Middle East. This year marks the fourth edition of the awards, which will honor individuals across three main categories: Special Awards, Star Icon Awards, and Emerging Global Icons.
Jessica Soho, renowned journalist and media personality, will be the guest of honor at the event. Prominent personalities such as Michael Cinco, Pia Wurtzbach, and Cory Quirino will also be recognized with special awards, highlighting their significant contributions to their respective fields.
The Star Icon Awards category holds special significance this year, as it is dedicated to community leaders in the Middle East. Recipients of these awards include influential figures from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Oman, Bahrain, and Qatar, reflecting the widespread impact of Filipino leadership in the region.
Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Alfonso Ferdinand Ver will deliver the welcome remarks, and Philippine Consul General Marford Angeles will give a special message to the attendees.
The highlight of the evening will be the announcement of the winner of the Emerging Global Icon Awards 2024. This category features twelve finalists who have demonstrated exceptional influence and leadership in their fields. The selection committee, comprised of esteemed members such as Dr. Rex Venard Bacarra, Marian Celeste ‘Bobbie’ Suarez Carella, Dr. Sharon Mendoza-Dreisbach, and Dr. Nino Miranda Decenorio, convened at the Rove Hotel in Deira to evaluate the finalists.
