In the fast-paced world of marketing and event production, where creativity meets precision and pressure is a constant companion, not everyone thrives. But for one Filipino professional, every challenge has been a stepping stone, every setback a lesson, and every successful event a celebration not just of logistics, but of passion and purpose. Meet Jhonel Estrada Dalog—a seasoned marketing and events professional whose inspiring career journey from a school DJ in the Philippines to the Founder and CEO of a growing events company in Dubai is nothing short of remarkable.
Currently at the helm of Black International Events Management, Jhonel leads a team dedicated to producing memorable physical and virtual events from start to finish. With over a decade of experience spanning the Philippines and the UAE, his name has become synonymous with creativity, precision, and heartfelt leadership in the events industry. “What drives me in this field is the ability to turn ideas into reality, ensuring every detail contributes to an unforgettable experience,” he shared with The Global Filipino Magazine. “Events are not just about logistics; they create moments that leave lasting impressions.”

Jhonel’s journey started in his college days at Our Lady of the Pillar College-Cauayan, where he earned a degree in Business Administration major in Marketing. Even then, he showed promise—not just academically, but in leadership and creativity. He was known for excelling in marketing, thesis writing, and event organization. His early exposure to hosting school events and competitions, combined with his stint as a student radio DJ, lit a spark that would later define his career.
“I realized how much I enjoyed the energy of live events, the meticulous planning behind them, and the joy of seeing people come together for a shared experience,” he recalled. This early passion followed him through professional roles such as Event Executive at TEC Event Management, Events Coordinator at IMG Worlds of Adventure, and Event Operations Manager at Blink FZE.
Starting from scratch in a time of crisis
But perhaps the most defining moment in his journey came in 2021, at a time when the world was reeling from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was during this period of uncertainty that Jhonel decided to take a leap of faith and establish Black International Events Management. Starting a business during a global crisis would be daunting for anyone—but Jhonel saw it as an opportunity to build something meaningful.
“At that time, the events industry was still under the threat of COVID-19, and businesses were cautious with their budgets,” he explained. “Many companies had scaled back or completely halted their event plans, making it difficult to secure clients in the early stages.”

To overcome these hurdles, Jhonel relied on sheer persistence. He reached out to new and old contacts, took on small-scale projects, and focused on delivering exceptional results regardless of budget. “No opportunity was too small; every successful project was a chance to showcase our capabilities and build credibility,” he said.
That commitment soon paid off. Happy clients became loyal partners. Referrals poured in. And what started with a three-person team has now grown into a thriving company with over 16 staff members—and counting.
“What I love most about my work is the ability to make things happen,” he said with pride. “Seeing an event come to life, from concept to execution, is always a rewarding experience. But more than that, it’s about building a team that shares the same passion and dedication.”
For Jhonel, leadership isn’t about control—it’s about empowering others. He mentors his team, sharing the wisdom he has accumulated through years of hands-on experience. “Encouragement, trust, and open communication are the key drivers of success,” he said. “I always remind my team that this company is not just mine—it’s theirs too. We’re working not only for the success of the business but also for the well-being of their families and their future.”

That people-first mindset, combined with a strategic eye for detail, has helped Jhonel deliver events that don’t just meet expectations—they elevate them. One memorable example involved a small request from a client that other agencies might have dismissed. “We treated it with the same level of dedication as a large-scale production,” he said. That simple act of professionalism led to multiple referrals and opened doors to larger opportunities. “It’s never just about profit; it’s about the relationships we build along the way.”
Innovation, mentorship, and the power of passion
Staying ahead in the events industry requires more than skill—it demands constant innovation. Jhonel and his team prioritize creativity by keeping tabs on trends, attending global expos, and brainstorming regularly. “Creativity isn’t just about following what’s new—it’s about finding unique ways to make every event stand out while staying true to our client’s vision,” he shared.
But he also believes that a team can only be creative when they are well-rested and motivated. Monthly team outings, shared meals, and relaxed catch-ups are part of their work culture. “A well-rested and motivated team is a creative team,” he explained. “That’s why we make it a point to refresh and recharge—especially after back-to-back events.”
Traveling has also become a source of inspiration for Jhonel. “Organizing events in different countries allows me to experience diverse cultures, explore new places, and build international connections,” he said. “Every trip is not just about business—it’s also an opportunity to learn, get inspired, and bring fresh ideas back to our events.”

But his success hasn’t made him forget his roots. Jhonel is deeply passionate about mentorship. Whether it’s his own team or aspiring event planners in the industry, he finds fulfillment in helping others find their path. “Seeing others grow and succeed, especially those I’ve worked with, is something that truly fulfills me,” he said.
His advice to aspiring event planners is both practical and uplifting. “Stay focused and consistent,” he urged. “This industry is fast-paced and unpredictable, but success comes to those who are determined and keep pushing forward.”
He emphasizes the importance of loving what you do, building strong relationships, and staying updated with the latest trends. “The more knowledge and experience you gain, the more valuable you become in this field,” he added. “And remember—success doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time, effort, and a lot of hard work.”
Outside of work, Jhonel finds balance through his personal passions. A badminton enthusiast, he turns to the sport to de-stress and maintain his focus. “The fast-paced nature of the game helps clear my mind and re-energize me,” he said. He also enjoys traveling—not just for events, but to discover cultures and gather inspiration.
