Warner Bros. has announced that the grand finale of the $2 billion-grossing “Conjuring” franchise will hit theaters and Imax on September 5, 2025. The fourth and final film in the supernatural horror series remains untitled as of now.
The “Conjuring” universe, developed by Warner Bros. and New Line, has expanded significantly since its inception, with prequels, sequels, and spinoffs including titles like “The Nun,” “Annabelle,” and “The Curse of La Llorona.”
The franchise began with the 2013 film “The Conjuring,” directed by James Wan and produced by Peter Safran. The movie introduced paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, as they helped a family haunted by a dark presence. The film was a massive success, grossing $319 million worldwide. The highest-grossing film in the series is the 2018 prequel “The Nun,” which earned $366 million globally. The franchise reached the $2 billion milestone with the release of “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” in 2021. The most recent installment, “The Nun II,” released in 2023, added another $269 million to the total box office revenue.
In addition to the “Conjuring” finale, Warner Bros. announced a schedule change for Maggie Gyllenhaal’s “The Bride!,” which will now be released on September 26, 2025, instead of October 3. The period film, set in 1930s Chicago, features Christian Bale as Frankenstein’s monster and Jessie Buckley as the titular bride, alongside Penélope Cruz, Peter Sarsgaard, and Annette Bening. “The Bride!” follows Gyllenhaal’s critically acclaimed directorial debut, “The Lost Daughter,” which premiered on Netflix in 2021.
