Thai singer dies after massage sessions lead to complications

Thai country singer Chayada Prao-hom, 20, passed away from complications after undergoing three massage sessions to relieve shoulder pain. She succumbed to a blood infection and brain swelling in an ICU in Udon Thani, Thailand, as reported by The Bangkok Post.

The tragedy began on October 5, when Chayada sought treatment at a massage parlor after experiencing back pain. Following her first session, she noticed numbness in her left arm and severe pain at the back of her head. Subsequent visits intensified her symptoms, leading to full-body stiffness and limited mobility. During her third session, she sustained significant bruising, which worsened her condition.

In a social media post weeks before her death, Chayada warned fans about her experience, emphasizing the risks of improper massage techniques. Despite her suffering, she initially dismissed the symptoms as a normal reaction to the therapy.

Authorities confirmed that the massage parlor and its practitioners were licensed but are investigating the incident. Health experts, including neurologist Thiravat Hemachudha, have warned about the dangers of neck-twisting techniques, which can cause severe nerve and blood vessel damage, potentially leading to paralysis or death.
