Residents of Barangay Northern Poblacion in Plaridel, Misamis Occidental were horrified after discovering the decomposing body of a 55-year-old woman inside her home, a case now linked to her own teenage son.
According to a report by Cyril Chaves for GMA Regional TV One Mindanao, neighbors were alarmed by a foul odor coming from the house and later found the victim’s body on Wednesday. Police confirmed that the woman’s 15-year-old son surrendered a day after the discovery, admitting to the incident.
Investigators said the boy confessed that on August 15, he got into a heated argument with his mother after asking for food, which she refused. In his account, he punched her, causing her to fall and hit her head on the floor. Instead of seeking help, he reportedly carried her unconscious body to a room, covered her face, cleaned up the blood, and then left the house.
Authorities stated that the boy will face a parricide complaint, though the court will ultimately decide on the case since he is a minor.
In a statement, Police Regional Office-10 expressed grief over the tragedy: “PRO-10 regrets the tragic case in Plaridel, Misamis Occidental where a 15-year-old minor killed his own mother. The child, who came from a dysfunctional family with separated parents, has surrendered and is now under the care of authorities with the MSWD.”
