A 19-year-old Indian visitor to Dubai died after reportedly falling from the rooftop of a building in Deira while photographing aircraft flying near the airport, Gulf News reported.
The victim, identified as Mohammed Mishal from Kozhikode district in Kerala, had arrived in Dubai about two weeks earlier to visit relatives. According to family friend Haneefa K.K., the tragedy occurred on Friday evening.
“He was staying with his cousins here while his parents remained in Kozhikode. He had been in Dubai for about 15 days,” Haneefa told Gulf News.
Mishal, described as passionate about photography, had gone to the terrace of a multi-storey building to take pictures of airplanes. “As the airport is nearby, he was likely trying to capture a close-up shot when his leg got stuck between two pipes and he lost balance, falling to the ground,” Haneefa said.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Haneefa described Mishal as “a talented boy with an entrepreneurial mind.” The young man had been pursuing a diploma in civil engineering in Kozhikode and had shared with relatives his desire to start a business in Dubai.
“It’s a tragic loss. The family is devastated. He was their only son,” Haneefa said, adding that legal formalities are underway to repatriate the body.
