A family dispute over Christmas gifts in Largo, Florida, escalated into a tragic shooting, resulting in the death of a 23-year-old woman and the arrest of her two teenage brothers, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred on Christmas Eve during a shopping trip with their mother. The argument between the 14-year-old and 15-year-old brothers continued at their grandmother’s house. The older sister, holding her 11-month-old son in a baby carrier, attempted to calm the situation. The 14-year-old brother, however, threatened and then fatally shot his sister in the chest.
In a shocking turn, the 15-year-old brother retaliated by shooting the 14-year-old outside the home, although not fatally. After the shooting, he discarded his firearm and fled, later being taken to a mental health facility due to self-harm threats.
The 14-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder, child abuse, and firearm possession by a delinquent. His 15-year-old brother faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. As of now, no legal representation for the brothers has been reported.
