Teacher in UAE receives three-year sentence, AED5,000 fine for altering student grades

A British teacher has been handed a three-year prison sentence and fined Dh5,000 by the Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeal after being found guilty of accepting bribes from students at his school.

The court ruled that the teacher altered exam results and unfairly boosted grades in exchange for financial incentives. Following the completion of his sentence, he will be deported from the UAE.

The case surfaced after the Public Prosecution launched an investigation, uncovering evidence of the teacher’s illegal activities. Authorities are also currently investigating other cases related to academic dishonesty and exam fraud.
