The Taiwan Tourism Board is deliberating on the extension of the visa-free entry policy for Filipino tourists, potentially allowing them to enjoy visa-free stays in the country until 2025.
The initiative aims to foster closer ties and stimulate tourism between the two nations.
Taiwan has established itself as a sought-after destination for Filipino tourists, with a goal set to attract 225,000 visitors from the Philippines by the end of the year.
To further encourage tourism, the board has introduced an exciting raffle that could see lucky travelers winning shopping vouchers worth 5,000 New Taiwan Dollars (approximately AED 573.08).
Travelers eager to try their luck can register on the Taiwan’s Lucky Land website a week before their trip for a chance to win these vouchers, as reported by GMA News.
On the flip side, the Philippine government is also encouraging Taiwanese nationals to explore the tourist spots in the Philippines.
The Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) in Taipei is promoting “Golf Tourism,” offering Taiwanese tourists cost-effective golfing experiences, a recreational activity growing increasingly popular in Taiwan.
MECO Chairman Silvestre Bello emphasized the potential benefits of the initiative.
“The interest of Taiwanese people in golf is increasing, so we are capturing that,” Bello mentioned, highlighting the strategy as a reciprocal gesture to boost tourist exchanges between the two countries.
