Actress Sunshine Cruz recently revealed that she has been diagnosed with myasthenia gravis, an autoimmune disease that affects voluntary muscles, just days after appearing at the Bench Body of Work fashion show.
The 47-year-old shared the news on Instagram, opening up about her health struggle over the past few months. Myasthenia gravis is a condition where antibodies disrupt communication between nerves and muscles, leading to symptoms such as fatigue, drooping eyelids, and difficulty with movement, speech, or swallowing.
“It’s been a real roller coaster these past months,” Sunshine wrote. “Building muscle has been a real struggle.”
Despite her condition, Sunshine expressed gratitude and pride after walking the runway, calling it “a powerful reminder of what’s possible even when things are tough.” She encouraged fellow moms and Gen Xers to keep chasing their dreams.
Sunshine joined fellow Gen X stars Ina Raymundo and Priscilla Meirelles at the fashion show held at the Mall of Asia Arena on March 21. Her daughter, Angelina, also participated in the event.
