The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced that Sunday, September 15, will be a paid public holiday for private sector employees to mark the birthday of Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him). This coincides with 12 Rabi al-Awwal 1446H in the Islamic calendar.
According to UAE labor laws, employees who are required to work on the holiday are entitled to a compensatory day off or additional pay. Employers must either provide a substitute rest day or pay the employee their regular salary plus 50% of their basic wage.
The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has also declared a public holiday for government employees on the same day. Following this, UAE residents can look forward to a four-day holiday in early December for National Day celebrations.
