Residents in the UAE should brace themselves as the summer season is set to end on September 23, marking the beginning of the transition into autumn, according to experts from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
Dr. Ahmed Habib, a climate expert from NCM, noted that this period will see temperatures gradually decrease, particularly during the night and early morning hours. “We’re now entering the end of August and the beginning of September, so temperatures will progressively start dropping,” Habib explained in a Khaleej Times report, adding that this trend will continue as summer draws to a close.
Residents should also prepare for foggy conditions, especially when driving on key roads such as the Dubai-Abu Dhabi route. “We are expecting fog formation over the next few days between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, and certain Western areas. People must watch for the alerts and drive cautiously in such situations,” Habib advised.
The country has recently experienced unstable weather, including heavy rains and hail in some mountainous regions, with further rainfall expected in areas like Fujairah due to ongoing low-pressure systems influenced by the East Indian monsoon. “Rainfall in the UAE, especially in Fujairah and the eastern regions, is typical for this time of year,” Habib remarked.
The NCM has also issued warnings about convective clouds that could bring more rainfall and strong winds in the coming days, urging residents to remain vigilant as the UAE transitions into a new season.
