Stunning image of galaxy with 40 billion stars captured from Abu Dhabi

On Friday, October 4, the UAE’s Astronomy Centre shared a breathtaking image of the Triangulum Galaxy (M33), photographed from the Al-Khatim Astronomical Observatory in Abu Dhabi. This spiral galaxy, located 2.7 million light-years away in the Triangle constellation, is home to approximately 40 billion stars.

Despite being the second closest galaxy to Earth, the Triangulum Galaxy is barely visible to the naked eye, even in complete darkness. The detailed image, captured through a composite of 215 photos with a total exposure time of over seven hours, reveals numerous red spots, indicating areas where new stars are forming.

The observatory used an 80mm refracting telescope and a light pollution filter to capture the stunning view of this distant celestial marvel.
