A tragic vehicle rollover on Hatta-Lehbab Road resulted in the death of one student and injuries to 11 others, Dubai Police reported on Tuesday. The injured were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to a Khaleej Times report, the accident was attributed to overspeeding and driver negligence. According to authorities, the vehicle swerved unexpectedly, struck an iron barrier, and rolled over into a sandy area adjacent to the road.
Upon receiving the emergency report, specialised teams were dispatched to the accident site to gather evidence and manage the scene. Traffic Patrols worked to organise and secure the area.
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations Affairs at Dubai Police, urged parents and students to select drivers who are experienced and drive cautiously. He also warned against driving when fatigued or drowsy, highlighting that exhaustion from long hours can reduce concentration and slow reaction times.
Additionally, he stressed the importance of adhering to a vehicle’s load capacity and ensuring regular maintenance checks, especially for tyres, which are vulnerable in the intense summer heat.
