Former Ateneo Blue Eagle Chris Koon is set to bolster Strong Group Athletics (SGA) as they gear up for the Dubai International Basketball Championship later this month.
SGA announced the addition of Koon on Thursday, with head coach Charles Tiu expressing confidence in the young athlete’s capabilities. “He has good size as a wing, can shoot, can defend. I think he will be a good role player for us. And we all know he’s been well-coached and comes from a great school and program, so it’s good to have him,” Tiu said.
During his final UAAP season with Ateneo, Koon averaged 7.58 points, 4.17 rebounds, and 1.83 assists per game, contributing significantly to the team’s success.
Koon will join a star-studded SGA lineup that includes fellow Blue Eagle Dave Ildefonso, Mikey Williams, Rhenz Abando, Jason Brickman, Angelo Kouame, Andray Blatche, NCAA MVP Allen Liwag, Tony Ynot, and Justine Sanchez. The team will also be reinforced by Malachi Richardson, Terry Larrier, and DeMarcus Cousins, who recently arrived in Manila to prepare for the tournament.
