Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Awards (HIPA) are inviting photographers and enthusiasts to participate in their third edition of the photography contest. This year, the competition focuses on promoting awareness about sustainable transportation, aligning with 2023’s theme of the Year of Sustainability.
The competition, running from September 25 to October 15, welcomes submissions of photographs highlighting the beauty and innovation of Dubai’s various public transport modes. These include the metro, tram, public buses, and different forms of water transport such as the water bus, water taxi, ferry, and abra. Participants stand a chance to win cash prizes totaling over Dh30,000.
Yousef Al Rida, CEO of the Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector at RTA, highlighted the contest’s aim to encourage residents, tourists, and public transport users to showcase Dubai’s sustainable transportation systems through their smartphone lenses. The competition intends not only to highlight the experiences of public transport pioneers but also to promote RTA’s transportation services as a blend of leisure and transport.
Ali Khalifa bin Thalith, Secretary-General of HIPA, emphasized the role of sustainability in shaping lifestyles around the globe and the potential of photography as a visual translator. He expressed enthusiasm about continuing the collaboration with RTA, inviting all to participate and be a part of the journey towards promoting sustainability.
Participants can submit their entries through personal Instagram accounts using the hashtag #RTAxHIPA.
