The Social Security System (SSS) has pledged support to the families of three overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who tragically lost their lives during the floods in the United Arab Emirates last April.
In a statement released Friday, SSS president Rolando Macasaet affirmed the organization’s commitment to assist the bereaved families of Jenny Gamboa, Marjorie Saquing-Ancheta, and Dante Casipong in navigating the process of filing burial and death benefit claims.
“We sympathize with the bereaved families of our kababayans who presumably have drowned after their vehicles got submerged in floodwaters in Dubai. Our branch personnel will help them process their benefit claims until they receive the SSS benefits,” Macasaet expressed.
Reports indicate that Gamboa and Ancheta tragically perished due to suffocation while inside their vehicle during the flood. Conversely, Casipong was with his colleagues when their vehicle reportedly slipped into a sinkhole.
The remains of the three OFWs were repatriated back home in early May, marking the end of a devastating chapter for their families.
The UAE experienced unprecedented rainfall last April, the heaviest in 75 years, leading to widespread flooding that claimed several lives and caused substantial damage.
