‘Squid Game’ returns for third and final season on June 27

Netflix has officially announced that Squid Game will return for its third and final season on June 27. The announcement was made during the streaming giant’s Next on Netflix event, where a teaser clip from the upcoming season was also revealed, hinting at another high-stakes round of the deadly competition.

The South Korean survival thriller became a global sensation when it debuted in 2021, attracting millions of viewers and helping Netflix boost its subscriber numbers. The first season saw 142 million households tune in, making it the platform’s most-watched original series in its first month.

The upcoming season will continue the story of Seong Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-jae, as he seeks to bring down the sinister organization behind the brutal games. The series was created by Korean writer and producer Hwang Dong-hyuk, who previously confirmed that the third season would be its last.

Squid Game is one of several hit series returning to Netflix this year, alongside Stranger Things, which will conclude with its fifth season, and Wednesday, which is set for a second installment.
