Speaker Dy: Impeaching Marcos not a priority right now

House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy has dismissed any possibility of an impeachment complaint against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. moving forward, saying Congress has far more pressing matters to address.

In an interview on DZMM Teleradyo on Friday, Oct. 10, Dy said the House of Representatives has not received any formal impeachment complaint, despite reports that Cavite 4th District Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Barzaga was preparing one.

“Wala pa naman ho kaming natatanggap pero alam niyo naman, marami po tayong dapat asikasuhin. Unang-una, marami tayong problema sa ating bansa. Dapat unahin po natin muna yun bigyan ng solusyon,” Dy said, emphasizing that the legislature’s focus should remain on national concerns rather than political rifts.

When pressed on whether such a complaint would progress, the Isabela 6th District representative was firm: “Yes, tama po yan.” He added, “Hindi ho priority ang impeachment ngayon sapagkat ang dami ho nating hinaharap na problema ng ating bansa.”

Dy clarified that he was unaware of any concrete plans from Barzaga to push through with the filing. “Wala pa rin naman pong naihain, o hindi ko po nabalitaan na mayroon pala siyang planong mag-file ng impeachment complaint laban sa Pangulo,” he said.

Barzaga earlier posted a vlog showing what he claimed to be an impeachment complaint against Marcos for “betrayal of public trust.” Under House rules, such a complaint must first be formally filed and endorsed before the Secretary General.

The House, composed of more than 300 members, remains largely allied with the Marcos administration.
